Alyce Favreau Memorial Garden
Dirkie Van Antwerp is leading a cooperative effort to build a garden in memory of Alyce
Favreau.  Alyce was an active member of the Garden Club of Brewster, chairing the
Conservation Committee for many years.  She served as President in 1986-87.  The garden is
a cooperative project with the Brewster Conservation Trust, a group also familiar with
Alyce's contributions to the community.  The garden is located on the John Hay property
at 36 Red Top Road in Brewster.  Dirkie and a number of volunteers from the garden club
are laying out the design and selecting native shrubs and perennials that will adapt to the
dry, partly shady location.  Dirkie has been creative about getting strong young volunteers
to clear the site.  Some planting has begun.  Stay tuned for further progress.
